4. How to use a Rotavator?
Prepare the area – remove large rocks, roots, heavy vegetation and any pipes, cables etc. Cut long grass or to make the process easier, you could remove the top layer of grass using a Turf Cutter.
Set the machine Depth – start shallow, and increase gradually. Check fuel level.
Start rotavating – walk in straight lines with slow, steady movements. For rough soil, you may need to do multiple passes.
Finish and Clean the rotavator.
5. What to do after Rotavating?
Leave the soil to settle for a few days before planting, and avoid walking over it excessively as this will compact it and undo some of your good work!
6. Any other Tips?
- Wear protective gear – gloves, safety boots, eye protection.
- Ensure you keep hands and feet away from the blades.
- Don’t use on steep slopes.
- Only work during daylight hours when you have good visibility.
- If it becomes stuck at any point, tilt it back to release it.
