What service does HSS Hire Ireland offer?
We provide tool & equipment hire to businesses and DIY customers across Ireland. Our range includes:
- Light & Heavy construction equipment
- Power tolls & hand tools
- Site support equipment (generators, lighting, access)
- Safety gear
- Specialist equipment for pharmaceutical, data centres, industrial and residential projects
- We also sell tools, equipment and accessories.
Where are you located?
We have locations in Dublin, Portarlington, Waterford, Cork, Limerick and Galway. We can serve customers throughout Ireland. Delivery and collection services are available nationwide for qualifying orders.

What types of tools & equipment can I hire?
You have lots of choice! We have a huge range including:
- Access and Powered Access Equipment (towers, scissor lifts)
- Power Tools (drills, saws, grinders)
- Specialised Equipment (e.g. laser levels, industrial vacuums)
- DIY & Gardening items
All these tools are regularly serviced and safety checked.
Do you supply equipment for pharmaceutical and clean-room projects?
Yes. We provide specialised tools and equipment suitable for:
- Pharmaceutical manufacturing environments
- Clean rooms
- High-spec industrial settings
We can advice on compliance requirements and offer contamination-controlled tools where needed.
Can you deliver and collect tools?
Yes, we offer delivery and collection throughout Ireland in most cases.
Is there a charge for delivery/collection?
Yes. Delivery charges will depend on location and equipment size.
How and when do I pay?
Credit Card
All major credit cards are accepted. In most cases this means that your hire is completed before your card statement is due. For long-term hires, charges are made at 2-week intervals.
Cash or Debit Card
Customers who prefer to pay in advance will be asked for a deposit of around twice the weekly hire rate. On return of the equipment we deduct the hire charge and refund your balance.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
Deposits are required for all equipment hire. We will ask for a 2 week Hire charge as a deposit which will be refunded upon return of equipment.
Are you tools checked for safety?
Yes, our tools are checked before and after every hire for safety, and also to ensure the items is working perfectly for our customers.

Using HSS
How does the Hire Process work?
1. Choose the tool of piece of equipment you need
2. Request a quote via email or phone (Call us on 1800 22 33 66, use our Contact Us page to find the phone number or email of your nearest HSS Hire location, or find a product on our website and click “Enquire Now”.)
3. Confirm your booking with a deposit.
4. Collect from your local HSS Hire depot, or arrange delivery.
5. Use the tool for your project.
6. Return by the agreed date or schedule a collection.
When should I make my reservation?
Please book as early as possible, especially for the busy summer and Bank Holiday periods.
Off-Hire & Collection?
Finished with the kit you’ve hired from HSS? Just call 1800 22 33 66 and quote your contract number – we’ll cease the hire and give you a confirmation reference number.
Equipment will be collected at the earliest opportunity convenient for you, usually the next working day.
Do I need identification?
We will ask for 2 forms of identification at the time of hire. A bank or credit card together with a driving licence showing your current address are ideal. If in doubt please check with your local branch.
Do I need an account to hire equipment?
You do not need an account for regular DIY hires.
If you wish to hire on a regular basis with up to 30 days credit, please call into your local branch to arrange an account.
What is my responsibility for equipment return?
Equipment remains on hire (and chargeable) until returned to any HSS branch. If you require a collection, please telephone and ensure you obtain an ‘off-Hire’ number. Security of equipment remains your responsibility until returned or collected by us.
What happens if something is broken, damaged or missing?
We do charge for broken or damaged equipment. Be sure equipment is secured when not in use and protected from vandalism or loss. You can avoid the risk of unforeseen charges by taking one of our Damage Waiver options.
Our highest level of protection, at 16% of the hire rate, protects you against the cost of theft and repairing damage of HSS equipment, up to the value of €5,000.

Why am I unable to access your site from work?
You may be attempting to access the Internet from within a firewall. Your employer may restrict your access to the Internet, and only allow specific types of access. This is a common security precaution at many places of employment. You will need to contact your network administrator if you are experiencing problems while you are at work.
Is the information I give you on this site secure?
Yes, we collect and store your data securely.
Do you offer training courses?
We do indeed!

Mon to Fri: 07.30 – 17.30
Saturday: 08.00 – 13.00 set branches (Limerick, Long Mile & Santry)

Post Hire
Do I have to clean the equipment I've hired before returning it to HSS?
A cleaning charge will be levied if equipment is returned dirty.
General
What's the difference between 110v tools and 240v tools?
240v are traditionally used in domestic circumstances, using mains electricity. 110v tools are usually used on building sites. 110v tools can be run from the mains, but will require a transformer to do so. Both are safe when used properly.
