Community

We believe it is vitally important to give back to the communities around our nationwide branches, whether it is through charitable donations, local initiatives or supporting local clubs.

Fundraising

In April 2026, in association with Chadwick’s Elephant in the Room initiative, we raised over €200 for the mental health charity Aware, with the “Great HSS Charity Bake Off” in one of our Dublin depots. It was a great success, with six bakes being entered into the competition. Our Greenogue branch manager had the difficult job of choosing a winner, but ultimately the red velvet cupcakes were given the trophy!

The success of our 2024 Bikeathon spurred us on to recreate the event in 2025 – but with a spooky twist! Our Halloween themed Bike-a-thon kicked off in Limerick before heading to Cork, Portarlington and Dublin. The chosen charity was the Irish Cancer Society and the team were so proud to raise €1405, which was matched by HSS Hire Ireland, bringing the total to €2810!

Our 2024 Bikeathon in aid of Debra Ireland was a huge success – The funds raised by staff were doubled by HSS Hire bringing the final figure to €2370. We even went beyond our target distance, thanks to the competitive spirit of everyone on the bike. We then had the honour of presenting the cheque to Emma Fogarty, an ambassador for Debra Ireland, in the Midlands Park Hotel in Portlaoise. Emma was on the Late Late show in 2024 with Colin Farrell, as he pushed her the last 5km in the Dublin Marathon to celebrate her 40th birthday. She suffers from Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) on 80% of her body, the equivalent of third degree burns. Her bandages have to be changed everyday, taking up to four hours, and causing agony for her. Debra Ireland work to support people suffering from this disease, just like Emma.

Supporting Community

We have worked with DIY SOS The Big Build Ireland for several years. This is an RTE show that rebuilds people’s lives by rebuilding their homes, fronted by Baz Ashmawy. We supply them with a range of equipment to help get the build over the line such as Alloy Towers, Concrete Mixers, Lighting Towers, Self righting work lights, Generators, Dumper, Scissor lifts, Mitowers and a Compact Pressure Washer Bowsers. It is a pleasure to be involved with this project year after year.

We donated a drill, wheelbarrow wheels and warm hats to My Lovely Horse Rescue in 2026, following on from a Corporate Volunteer day in late 2025. This is an amazing charity, that does a brilliant job of rescuing and rehoming unwanted, abused and neglected animals. For more details on My Lovely Horse Rescue, visit their website here.
