Hiring a Carpet cleaner is inexpensive and you will be surprised at the difference once you start using them. Carpets and rugs will naturally become grubby over time, and even more so if there are pets or children in your home! To maintain your carpets you need to clean up any stains or spills quickly, but you also need to remember to do a deep clean every now and then with a carpet cleaner. This will help your carpets to live longer and avoid you having to replace them as often. Our Karcher Carpet cleaners also come with an upholstery attachment for your couches or chairs.
Why should you bother cleaning your carpets?
- You will remove Dust mites and other allergens through deep cleaning. Regular hoovering only removes surface dirt.
- Moisture naturally builds up in carpets which can lead to bacteria and mildew and eventually mould growth. If you have a spill that wasn’t dried up quickly or even a flood, the dampness will cause issues further down the line which could be avoided with regular cleaning.
- If you are lucky enough to have a pet, their fur can easily coat your carpets and if it builds up, odours will start to appear.
- To prevent carpet moths from appearing you will need to regularly clean your carpet.
- Deep cleaning your carpet will extend its life, saving you money in the long run.
How to use a HSS Hire Karcher Carpet Cleaner
1. Clear and hoover the area to pick up any loose dirt.
2. Open the clear lid and fill the water bucket with carpet cleaning solution (available to buy in HSS shops). Pour this into the clean water section of the machine.
3. Assemble the floor cleaning wand and attach the nozzle.
4. To begin cleaning, hold down the trigger under the handle and move the cleaning wand across the floor or rug. Do a test patch first to ensure everything is in working order.
5. Ideally you should move in a straight line, spraying the carpet with the solution. Don’t saturate the carpet – too much water can lead to longer drying times and even mould growth or rotting.
6. You must release the trigger in order to pause the flow of solution, while you use the vacuuming function to remove the dirty water.
7. Allow time for drying. Open windows or use fans to speed up the drying. Try to avoid walking on the carpet until it’s completely dry.
Please note: If the nozzle no longer sprays, or the water is too foamy, you will need to stop and replace the water with a fresh load of cleaning solution.
Once clean, here are some tips for maintaining it!
- An obvious one but often hard to enforce – don’t wear shoes in the house
- Place mats at all doors, to protect the carpet where shoes are the dirtiest, and to wipe off any excess dirt in case the shoes are worn into the house.
- Hoover regularly
- If you do get a stain, don’t scrub it as you may cause more damage. You should blot it with paper towels. Adding too much water or detergents can over saturate the carpet and result in lingering odours.
